Bramley, Open your eyes and read my match report again (Note very physical tackling). I was trying to stay away from the slagging off of teams in match reports. It doesnt make good reading in the programme. There is a way of wording things. ;-) I was saying was i was very disapointed the ref didnt pick up some late challenges in the second half. I am the first to admit that Newport didnt play all that well and Reading played better. Plus you have to admit that there should be neutral officials from a neutral league? Im sure if it was UCL refs and Newport Pagnell had won you would be saying the same. Dont get so defensive. :-) Grassroots - I accept your views and agree that neutral League officials appointed would have been better for this final. Cannot agree that Reading Town tackles were any worse than Newport Pagnell's though. RTFC appeared to want the trophy more on the night. Good fortune for next season and it was good to meet you anyway. Thats what i said. Reading Town played better on the night. Newport Pagnell did make some bad tackle but were punished for it. Reading did get away with a lot of the bad tackles. Thats what i am trying to say. Its was good to meet you and i am pleased with Newports run. Im sure we will meet in the Trophy again. Good luck for next season. :-)

No problem with your players celebrating but you know full well one of them did more than that. Thats enough said about that. The referee was dreadful, the organisation at the game was poor. We went intending to have fun whatever the result as we have done all season. We have know problem with your lot breaking up the pace of the game, if that suited you but not that the ref failed to deal with it and even complied with it. There were too many delays when the ball went out of play, do Bucks and Berks only have one ball? Perhaps the refereeing styles are different in the 2 leagues? I don't know. The atmosphere was oppressive I was glad to get out at the end, this is Step 5 not the premiership! The refereeing was not that bad as you make out.... slight stoppages here and there with the ball but this is non league remember not Premiership where you have ball boys ect. The atmosphere was great but there was nothing to suggest it was oppressive!! It was always going to a pyhsical game with everyone wanting to win so you would expect some late challenges and there were by both teams.

I've had second thoughts about that, it may not be Reading fans responsible for spoiling the atmosphere at all, there were an awful lot of "suits" there and one complaint we had was that the FA seemed to be treating it as a jolly. So I apologise for that. If the numbers I've been given are correct something like 33% of the crowd were suits! We certainly had no problem with you guys, I think Grassroots said that was the fun bit for us. Before we went we looked for inflatable Swans but left it too late to find them. We had a terrific season, as I'm sure you did we just felt the fun night we should've had didn't happen somehow. It was partly cos of the the above comments, partly because of the poor refereeing, and we weren't impressed with the venue. Congrats, hope you have a great season next year, we're getting withdrawal already! I'm someone who must speak my mind even if I risk looking either a fool or a poor loser, like most people I don't always get it right! And I do accept I see things through green and white coloured glasses!

Swansong - no problems with airing your views, after all it's all about opinions and we can't always agree on these matters. The Barmy Army respect supporters like yourself and Grassroots, after all there are precious few who follow their teams both home and away at this level of the pyramid. Next season cannot come too soon for us and the challenges it will hold yet again. I hope that you have a great season and look forward to a real carnival atmosphere when we meet up again.
