Newport Pagnell Town 2 Kings Lynn Town 4
Saturday, 12 March 2011
This Lynn success ended Newport's own title dreams which were already fading after a midweek reverse at St Neots.
Darren Lynch gave the Swans the lead four minutes in and like on Tuesday gave the Swans a great start.
The Swans lead didn’t last that long as Luke Thurlbourne levelled for Lynn after twelve minutes from close range.
Then on the quarter hour Jack Defty gave the visitors the lead a looping header going off the post then in.
Lynn came close to adding a third but pulled out a good save from the Newport keeper as he tipped it over the bar.
Stephen Spriggs made it three for Kings Lynn after 25 minutes when he found space down the left side, his hard shot beating James Brobent.
Lynn came close again but the Swans managed to clear from just in front of the goal line.
The Swans then caught Lynn knapping in defence when Vinny Shrieves found space who managed to lob the advancing keeper. His neat finish on 48 minute reply put Newport back in the game.
Robbie Harris sealed the visiting success three minutes past the hour after the Swans had applied plenty of pressure. Harris capitalising on a defensive error and making no mistake to finish past Brobent.
The Swans tried to retrieve a goal back and came close to scoring when Darren Lynchs header just went over the cross bar, then Broomes shot just went wide of the mark.
Lynn had the better of the first half but I thought Newport Pagnell were unlucky not to score more in the second half. The 4th goal came against the run of play at the time as the Swans had a good run of attack at the time. Well don’t to Kings Lynn as they were worthy of the win. It keeps them in the hunt for the title and promotion and also keeps them up with St Neots so it was an important win the Lynn.
There was also a great turn out, 326 fans which created a great atmosphere within the ground. And I also will add that the Kings Lynn fans seemed really nice bunch. :-)
