Daren dykes took his season's tally to 42 domestic goals and with time running out for the other contenders he looks a hot favourite to top the end of season scorecharts.
It looked plain sailing for the Swans early on with dykes converting a second minute spot kick and Darren Lynch adding a second visiting goal ten minutes in.
The Romans fought back though and a Ryan Cottingham double after 40 and 43 minutes levelled the interval score.
A wonder goal from dykes after 55 minutes settled the game in Newport's favour.
