UCL Premier Division
Newport Pagnell Town 0 - 0 Cogenhoe United
Saturday, 13 February 2010
With just two places and two points separating the sides in the table a close contest was anticipated at Willen Road and so it proved as the two teams played out a goalless stalemate.
Cogenhoe were the first to apply the pressure from kick off and went close with a shot which went wide.
Newport Pagnell did score half way through the first half but Darren Lynch was ruled offside.
Vinny Shrieves came close himself but pulled a good save out of the keeper.
The Cooks had a chance which was dealt with and cleared out of the goal mouth by Thorpey.
Then later Vinny broke down the right side. He pulled the ball back, but unfortunately the ball appeared to elude everyone.
Second half the Cooks put more pressure on and missed three good chances to take the lead. Twice a good low cross was put into the area but the cooks strikers fluffed the chances. The other chance hitting the cross bar!
The Swans had a couple of chances themselves and forced Cogenhoe to clear from the goal mouth.
Some good football played in the centre from both teams but it was the finishing that let both teams down.

This game was better than the scoreline suggests. On the day two well matched teams battled it out with both teams attacking at every opportunity. I know its no PC these days to say it but wasn't the referee poor.

Yes. The game wasnt to bad. Some good football from both sides in the middle and going forward. I think what let the game down was both team finishing. The ref was really bad. He made some odd decisions for both sides. I seem to punish good tackle and let the bad ones go! Then he booked the wrong player for Newport.
