Newport Pagnell Town 4 - 3 Daventry Town

Daventry's double hopes were ended by a double comeback from the Swans at Willen Road.
With only a minute played Daventry Town had a player sent off when he lashed out after a scuffle for the ball, Daventry Town down to 10 men for 89 minutes.
Daventry Town started the better of the two sides with various chances going a miss including a hard shot that just whipped over the cross bar!. Bruce also making a couple of good saves!
Newport Pagnell had some chances and produced a good save from the Daventry Town Keeper from Daren Lynches shot.
After a scoreless first half Jason Lee gave Daventry the lead six minutes into the second period when he met a cross with a half volley which illuded everyone.
Newport Pagnell pressed to get and Equaliser but no avail.
Tom Berwick added a second visiting goal after 68 minutes as the championship favourites put one foot in the final making us all think game over!
Daventry Town should have been down to 9 men after a two footed ludge took out Rob McDonald. But the referee only branded a yellow card.
Terry decided on making an inspired substitution bring on Vinny Shrieves, Matt Broomes and Tom Hill. This made a big difference to Newport attacking play giving more options up front.
This showed when Vinny Shrieves had a one on one chance with the keeper but is shot was well saved by the keeper. Then just after Daren dykes broke through but is shot was comfortably saved by the Keeper.
The constant pressure paid off for the Swans when Chelly Nkong's first Newport goal after 75 minutes put the Swans back in the tie after a good run and pass by Matty Broomes.
Then four minutes later Daren dykes hauled the home side on terms when he headed home from a corner.
A Tired Daventry side tried to respond but Newport Pagnell soaked up the pressure.
Newport Pagnell came close to wrapping up the game in the last minute but Daren dykes chip was caught by the keeper. Then Vinny Shrieves had another one on one chance but his shot was scuffed wide.
Berwick restored Daventry's lead two minutes into extra time when he caught the Swans knapping
But Newport redoubled their efforts and again equalised through James Fletcher after 98 minutes when he met a cross from the right to head into goal.
Daventry Town came close to taking the lead when there forward charged forward but his shot just went over the cross bar!
Vinny Shrieves won it for the Swans after 103 minutes when the keeper lost the ball, Vinny quick to pounce on the loose ball to send the Swans into the final of the league cup!
Daventry Town produced a good save out of Bruce to keep Newport Pagnells advantage.
The other semi final is yet to be decided as both Quarters haven’t been played yet due to the weather.
