All,
The u12`s returned to action in the league against Mk City, and from the off were dominant in possession, all that was lacking was the ability to pass the ball to each other !!!, the game was scrappy, and needed to be slowed down, Reeve provided that cool touch, with Callum dominating at the back, goals from Jamie, Lewis, Nathan and OMG Scott "Bendtner" Leech !!, well done on getting the result that was needed.
Guys, you can pass the ball as well as any other team, last week was evidence of the faith I have always had in you, you need to keep re-producing the football that we all know you can, training tomorrow, and you will be running, so don't bother to be late (Jo & Callum), enjoy the rest of your day.
Darren.

Match Report, Newport lions 4 - 0 MK City Lions
The ball came out from the back from “Cool Hand” Callum Quinn Hudson and via a set of intricate passing movements it arrived at the feet of the left winger “Nine lives” Nathan Clarke who took it forwards at pace. Sensing he might be able to help out up front in some way “Cool Hand” had also advanced up the pitch and found himself inside the 6 yard area when, following good work between Jamie “Tosh” Latarche the ball came over to the feet of guess who? Yep, Cool Hand Callum who, in a truly Dalgleish - esque way, clouted it into the onion sack with real style. On seeing the ball hit the back of the net “Cool hand” screamed with delight, all the lads ran to congratulate him and the Mads went even madder. In fairness only Brian's smile was close to being as wide the Cheshire cat version apparent on Cool hand's face as he run back to his centre half position – A great goal Callum and so nice to see that oxygen wasn't required for being that high up!!
What Fred , I hear you say are you prattling on about? – That was last week!! Well yes it was but as last weeks was a truncated affair of a match report I thought I would include the full description of Callums goal today - especially as it appears to have been an inspiration to our Right and Left backs to have a pop today as they both scored – if you want to know how then read on:
So, the Orange men marched up on this lovely day today to take us on and they did as scoreline doesn't really do MK City Lions justice, it could easily have been another story – there a good outfit with some real pace and flair about them.
From the kick off then it was Newport applying the pressure with chances of sorts falling to Scottie “The Hottie” Howkins, “Superfast” Shayne Irving, Joe “President Kennedy” and J, Edgar “Hoover” all of which went close but not close enough. The early pressure didn't produce a goal and by the 10th min City lions had their first shot at goal and these were followed up by quite a few more – our passing game had deteriorated meaning the match had developed into a bit of a scrappy battle ground. The Midfield of The “Hoover”, Charlie “Farley”, Nine Lives” and “Superfast” The were doing their best to contain the City Lions - aided and abbetted by “Cool hand”, “Tosh”, “The Poet” Dylan Cunningham and Scott “Bites yer legs” Leech in defense all of whom displayed class as well as physical presence in their play.
The 23rd Minute brought the first of a few changes with “Revved up” Reeve Furness coming on for “the Hoover” and on the 24th he was unlucky not to score with a long range shot but that and a couple of other hopeful chances were all we saw up to half time.
Half Time 0-0 and the discussion amongst the MADS was “how big was the city Lions goalie” he looked like a real man (and played like one also) in goal and it was decided that he was actually married with 3 grown up kids and was looking forward to a week off to go on a saga holiday – Or were we looking at the adjacent vets game?– I dunno I get confused these days. Nice to see Mandy and her lovely feet again and also the 1st lady in attendance – what a great turn out!!
Back to the game now and the 2nd Half started with a few changes in personnel – Off came the hottie to be replaced by “Lightening” Lewis Britnell and in the first minute the breakthrough was made – "Nine lives" floated in a corner that was met by the “the Presidents” Head so well that all the keeper could do was parry it and there was “Tosh” to, after some really good footwork, coolly whack it in – A great goal from a great left back!!
1Min – NPTFC Lions 1 – 0 City Lions
Now it was different gravy and more attacks followed until some great work by “lightening” in the 7th min resulted in pulled back pass across the area to a hard charging “Nine Lives” smash it into the corner to make it two nil.
7th Min – NPTFC Lions 2 – 0 City Lions
A few more changes saw Tyler “Chopper” Prain on for “the poet” and almost immediately "Lightening" made an opening, blasted a shot so hard that the keeper couldn't hold onto it and followed up by putting his laces through it, losing his boot in the process to give us a comfortable lead – great goal Lightening.
16th Min – NPTFC Lions 3 – 0 City Lions
Don't let me give you the idea that City lions were not in this – they were making good chances that required our Goalie, the “Stone Mason” to be at his best to keep out and even at this point they were far from beaten. Having said that what followed from Newport was more pressure, more corners and more chances and on the 23rd Minute “The hottie” put a ball over to the marauding right back “Bites yer legs” to pop it in to make it four – well done leechy !! 23rd Min – NPTFC Lions 4 – 0 City Lions.
As the game run to it's conclusion there were a few more chances and scrambles but nowt to write home about so with that the ref blew and another league victory was won.
Finally then – I haven't included all the changes suffice to say that the whole squad played their part and as i have said before we are blessed - there really are no week links such that when changes are made things just carry on the same – what a great bunch of footballing lads.
Well done boys!!
Darren manager's man of the match – this week goes to “Revved up” Reeve Furness who, lets face it was pretty ruddy awesome all game – Well done Reeve!!
So – another match and another win – The boys work hard in training at both the football and the fitness and it's really paying off with the results – your a joy to watch!!
Great stuff and roll on Brook end Colts next week.
