All,
The U12`s played their most recent league game at home against Halse, a big thank you to the committee for allowing us to play on the main pitch, it was much appreciated, and we even managed to play some football worthy of the hallowed turf.
A 3-0 win convincing enough over opponents who gave their all, well done to halse for not giving up, and well done to our goal scorers, Charlie, Sam & Scott, we looked alot tighter as a team and was one of our better team performances in recent games, a more detailed report will no doubt follow.
This win secured us the Division 2 title, with 3 games to go, well done boys, and thank you to all who have supported us this season.
Darren.

Match Report, Newport Pagnell Lions 3 – 0 Halse
So, It was here at last, The BIG DAY was upon us for not only was it the first opportunity for the lads to play on the 1st team pitch (many thanks club people) but it was also an opportunity to clinch the Beds, Bucks and Berk's Div 2 title – a big day indeed – but would the lions rise to the occasion?
Was it to be or not to be? That was the question? Well, I don't know about Hamlet but the man from Delmonte – he say yes!! the boys Did it – and in some style too!!
Before getting into the game it was great to see such a great turn out of MADS – Nanny Margaret was there and had a right pop at some big bloke who sat in front of her blocking her view (sorry Nanny). Wayne's uncle Reg was there - quite a character too, on meeting note-taker Jo for the first time he leant forward puckered his lips to kiss her and as they came together he stopped her dead and said “no tongues” - Just classic stuff – now we know where Wayne got it from!!
Talking of Wayne, he was explaining how wonderful his glasses were – things seem ever so close he pronounced, it's like I've got Superman's Eyes he said – Then the lovely Katrina asked him if he'd taken out his contact lenses this morning - Doh !!
Spose I better mention the football – From Kick off the Lions declared their intentions in no uncertain manner – the whole pride were on the prowl for a goal – 3rd minute saw the first shot from Nathan “Nine Lives” Clarke saved before Joe “President” Kennedy passed sweetly to “Lightening” Lewis Britnell and he like wise onto Scottie “The Hottie” Howkins only for the keeper to save again. We got to the 6th minute and the ball had barely left Halse's half when Callum “Cool Hand” Quinn - Hudson won the ball, passed to “The Hottie” and he onto “Charlie Farley” Holman Patey whose beautiful measured loppy loopydy loop of a shot flew over the keeper and into the onion sack. What a goal Farley boy!!
6 Min – Lions 1 – 0 Halse
Newport pressure all the way now, With Rock Solid Mason Tofts in goal the defence of Scott “Bites yer legs” Leech, Jamie “Tosh” Latarche, “The poet” Dylan, and “Cool hand” were in charge and provided a fantastic platform on which to build. The midfield of “revved up” Reeve Furness, “Charlie Farley”, “Nine lives”, and “The President” used that platform to maximum effect drawing players out of position and linking well with the forwards, “Lightening” and “The Hottie to create opportunities for all of them, – surely it was just a matter of time till the whistle blew for another goal?
Well, despite lots of goalmouth and penalty area activity in what seemed an incredibly quick half the next whistle that blew was the ref's to signal half time and the lions walked off the the score still at 1-0.
Half time now, and before I know it up pops uncle Reg to ask – Does the pitch flood – No sez I, why do you ask? well I can see the waterline at the far end!!! (have a look next time – it'll all fall into place) Standing with the MADS it was nice to see Darren Manager's sister there watching her little lad's performance – She did say he needed a hair cut though!! Also present was the Real Darren Clarke and his lovely wifey Julie – she's the one who likes to put her foot down – apparently it goes faster when you do that!! - oo-er missus Mandy and her exposed feet were there – in fact nearly more got exposed at one point for the camera! Leaky boots Elaine was there with Titanic Tumbler and No 1 trampoline destroyer Alex – He's nearly back from injury (great shinny, shiny scabs Alex) - lovely to see you matey. JO Holman Patey was there with her special bootees, Sheila and Colin were there, unfortunately not in leather this week and Kelly was there lacking her cat round her neck this week – oh it was just great to see them all – Well done everyone!!
Outside of the stand stood the men (coz it would be wrong to stand in the stand) - Glenaldo and Paul might have clapped once or twice and bellowed encouragement toward their offspring but most notable amongst this bunch of fine upstanding men was “Quiet” Brian Quinn – he stood there and never said a word all match!!
Second half then – various changes had taken place – on the pitch now and probably before half time was Edgar “Diarby” Adakoya, Tyler “Chopper” Prain, Superfast Shayne Irving Sam “Cookie” Cooke, - as always they just slot in and out like an onion in a thing that an onion would slot nicely in and out of. (losing my marbles now – sorry)
So the game progressed and started off in much the same vein as the first – all out attack – “The President”, “Bites yer legs” “Chopper” and “Diarby” all had a pop or two before the 7th minute when Sam “Cookie” Cook shook of those chain gang shackles, shouted “AVE it” and smashed the ball onto the bar and in – Top goal from the soul sensation!
6 Min – Lions 2 – 0 Halse The game was now lost to Halse – Our Keeper “The stone Mason” Tofts had literally not touched the ball all game, the lions defence were now parked on the halfway line with the midfield in close proximity and the fabulous passing game that the lions have developed started to come into play – this shows right through the team with the defence doing one two's and forming triangles as much as the forwards and midfielders – with this amount of pressure something just had to give. - it soon did.
Reading Jo's notes I see that "Nine Lives", "The Hottie", "Superfast", "Cookie" and "lightening" all had shots saved or fly wide before a super through ball from the hottie sent "lightening" through only for it to be adjudged off side and not count. Wayne Immediately offered the lino his new contact lenses!!
Eventually, after peppering the keeper with shots and not being able to take advantage of a No of goalmouth scrambles it fell to “The Hottie” in the 23rd minute to show some class, beating his man, making space and curving it into the far corner to make it 3-0. Lovely jubberly
23rd Min – Lions 3 – 0 Halse More chances beckoned but that was it for the day – great play by the whole squad resulted in a 3-0 win and being crowned Div 2 champions!!!!!!!!!!!
Summary
A great display from all the squad in all areas of the pitch and from the management as well – well done to all, Darren manager, Kev, well done all the MADS and above all - well done boys!!!!
So, In the words of the late, great Farrokh Bulsara, “We are the champions, my friends” - but like the great man said himself we have to keep fighting till the end – 3 more games to go, can you do it unbeaten? is it to be or not to be? That is the question? (didn't I start like this?)
Finally – Joe “President” Kennedy – did you finish your Sunday dinner when you got in!!!!
Cheers
Paul H
