MMMMmmmm,
"well you have won the league boys but we must aim to remain unbeaten for our remaining fixtures !!".
I thought by setting them a target would keep up the motivation and focus, so conceding a silly early goal was not on my mind, but BPR had other ideas, through Nathan we quickly regained level terms, only to go behind again, we came in at half-time behind and managed to make our position worse still by conceding another, we made some changes and dug in, I think we battled and showed resilience, so we began to close down their advantage, and with further goals from Tyler, Shayne & Scott, managed to take the lead, which seemed sweet as it was us on the wrong end of things at their place.
Well done to BPR, for being great opponents, and good luck next season, well done to Newport for remaining unbeaten and showing your great team spirit.
Darren.

Match Report NPTFC U12s v BPR
As we welcomed BPR to our ground the memory of our last encounter was still very fresh in every bodies mind. The boys knew that although the league title was well and truly safe(thank goodness!!), they still had the unbeaten run to protect. The team had also suffered another blow with the news that not only was Alex still sidelined, but we now had to add Joe to that list. The injury sustained at our first match with BPR 2 weeks ago proving to be a little more serious than first thought. But it was great to see both boys there supporting their team mates.
Well on to the match, the team lined up with Mason in goal, Dylan, Callum, Scott L and Jamie at the back, Nathan, Charlie, Edgar and Shayne in midfield and Lewis and Scott H up front. Subs were Reeve and Tyler.
From the very start it was a slightly uncontrolled affair, and this resulted in BPR scoring in the 4th min 0-1
With the ball flying about the pitch it was more like a game of table tennis, meaning that the boys were having to chase everything. This paid off and the Lions won a free kick 8mins into the half 25yrds out. Up stepped Nathan and smashed it into the back of the net!!! 1-1
BPR then had a chance in the 10th but Mason was able to make a great save. The boys were getting chances with Shayne's effort going just over the bar, and Edgar battling away in midfield taking on 2 or 3 players at a time. Every so often we were treated to the fantastic passing game that we know the Lions do so well. Scott L passing out to Jamie, then to Dylan onto Nathan then forward to Shayne, only for the keeper to save his effort.
18th min and Charlie chips a beautiful ball into the pen area but Scott H shot went just wide.
19th min Lions corner and Edgar's shot goes just over.
22nd min and with the threat of that looping ball catching our defence out, BPR score 1-2
The rest of the half saw the Lions have a number of chances from Scott H, Charlie, Shayne and Lewis all put wide or the keeper saving. So half time came and the Lions in the unusual position of being behind.
The second half kicked off with Edgar being replaced by Reeve. 4mins in and Scott H wins a free kick, Nathan steps up again but has his shot saved. The boys were all battling hard and occasionally it paid off. Scott L pushing forward and getting the ball through to Scott H who's shot goes just wide. Nathan chipping the ball into Scott H and the keeper saving his effort. Of course Mason wasn't having as easier game as he did on Sunday and pulled off a fantastic save with his left foot!!!!
17th min Charlie takes the Lions free kick but the keeper manages to get a hand to it. Then seconds later BPR go up the other end and score. 1-3. This was slightly unknown territory to the Lions, being quite so far behind and especially at home. 13 minutes to go, this would take some comeback........
So it began!!! 20th min and Lewis has a shot which goes just wide. Charlie then makes way for Tyler. The balls were being chipped into the BPR pen area and the boys all trying to make some kind of break through.
Eventually it came in the 23rd min with Shayne managing to beat the defenders legs and put in the back of the net!!!2-3
25th min Tyler does the same and gets the score up to 3-3 well done Tyler!!
With 5 minutes to go (and my notes are slightly thin on the ground from now on!!!) and with the score able to go either way, the boys tried to take every chance that they could. They were helped with the BPR goalie chasing the ball out with Nathan in hot pursuit. He was able to get the ball over to Scott H and with the goalie chasing back, the BPR defenders were unable to stop the shot going in the back of the net!!!! 30 minutes gone and the Lions were 4-3 up. The last couple of minutes saw the Lions dig in and protect that score line.
The whistle blew and and the match finished 4-3, league champions and still unbeaten, 2 games to go!!!!
Man of the match went to a very well deserved Jamie who worked his boots off!!!! Well done boys and of course well done Darren!!
