All,
The U13`s were in action today at home to City Colts, the game was a little scrappy and Neither side really got going today, with little quality football being played, however the lads did manage to win the game today, battling away with goals from Charlie Holman-patey, Joe Kennedy and Scott Howkins.
Well done boys.
Darren.

NPTFC V City Colts
The last match the Lions played against the Colts had finished 2-2 after a last minute bizarre penalty decision that was given on a foul outside the box on a player in an offside position. We crossed our fingers that the boys would get a little more luck in this game. The starting line up was as follows, Sonny in goal, Scott L, Dylan, Callum and Charlie B at the back, Archie, Charlie HP, Edgar, Joe and Nathan in the middle and Charlie T up front. Subs were Mason, Shayne and Scott H, and our absentees were Alex and Jamie. The Lions started the first half shooting with the direction of the wind, and that advantage was seized early on with Edgar putting a ball through to Nathan in the 3rd min, then onto Charlie T whose shot went into the side netting. 9th min Joe passed a great ball into the path of Nathan and onto Archie who saw his shot go just wide. Nathan corner saw Joe get his head to it which the keeper pushed away for Joe to take another shot this time with his foot 1-0 The Lions then had a succession of corners with the highlight being Ed gar's shot which just went over the bar. The Colts then made a break, but Callum and Dylan were able to clear the ball out to Charlie B and back into the midfield. Both teams seemed pretty even at this point and saw most of the play in the middle of the pitch. The defence seemed to be holding, but on the couple of occasions that the Colts were able to get through Sonny was able to make the save. Scott H then replaced Edgar. 18th min saw another goal mouth scramble at the Colts end with no-one being able to get the shot in. 22nd min Charlie HP had a shot 20yrds out which went just wide, followed by Archie seeing his shot do the same thing. 26th min Joe puts an inch perfect ball through to Archie and his shot gets carried away by the wind. At some point most of the members of the team tried to get a shot on goal, with Scott H, Charlie T seeing their efforts saved. 29th min and what seemed like the 40th corner Charlie HP takes and curls it into the back of the net! 2-0 31st min Archie battling manages to get the ball the Scott L who chips the ball in and forces a corner, Joe’s headed attempt from that goes just wide. Then in the last minute of the half the Colts win a free kick 25yrds out which Sonny saves. Half time 2-0
Second half and the Lions found themselves playing into the wind, and the Colts winning a corner early on which the boys were able to clear. 5th min Scott L clears the ball up to Nathan, who travels with it up towards goal but the wind just carries it that little bit to far. Nathan then has another shot in the 9th min which goes wide. The next ten minutes saw a lot of scrappy play in the middle of the park with both sides trying to pressure, and Charlie HP had a shot just off target in the 18th min. Archie then came off to be replaced by Shayne. The Lions continue to pressure and win a free kick 10yrds out, Nathans shot goes just wide. Nathan was then replaced by Archie. The Lions seemed to be getting the upper hand in the match with Charlie B putting the ball through to Shayne and managing to push further forward into the colts half. 25th min Archie travels with the ball up the right and sees his effort go just wide. 27th min Joe places a ball at the feet of Archie who slots it into Scott H, and into the back of the net! 3-0 34th min and Charlie T puts a ball into Archie which goes just inches over the bar. The same happening in the 35th min after another ball in from Charlie T. And that is how it finished. Well done on the win boys, and well done to Mason who didn’t get a chance to get on today, but supported his teammates.
