All,
The boys were back in league action today, against a Newton Longville side that had already thumped us on our travels, so we needed to put that right, and I guess they did just that, with a first half display to match anything we have done so far this season, they managed to keep up the pressure in the second half had a brilliant team performance saw them win convincingly today.
Good luck to Trevor and his team for the rest of the season.
Well done boys,
Darren.

A great result and performance against a decent side which I believe is the only team to have beaten Wolverton Tigermoths White so far this season.
Hopefully our recent run of good home form will carry on away from home.

NPTFC LionsU13’s v Newton Longville Blues
Remembering the last time the boys faced up to the blues, they came away having been well and truly beaten and soaked if my memory serves me correctly! The boys, having been spurred on from the last couple of matches, still knew they had a tough game on their hands, but confidence was high. The team lined up with Sonny in goal, Scott L, Dylan, Callum and Charlie B in defence, Archie, Edgar, Joe, Charlie HP and Nathan in midfield, and Charlie T up front. Subs were Jamie, Mason, Scott H and Shayne, with Alex absent.
From the kick off the Lions dominated play and this was rewarded in the 2nd min when Nathan, breaking down the left chips the keeper and puts the ball in the top left corner! 1-0 This settles the boys and play moves to the middle of the pitch, with both sides attempting to break but not quite managing to get free. Until the 8th min Charlie T wins the ball and passes it to a sprinting Archie down the right, who crosses it into the box and Nathan does another now trademark chip over the keepers head!! 2-0 The blues now start to dominate possession and play becomes a little bit scrappy, Dylan and Callum are called upon to make some great tackles to get the Lions out of trouble. 15th min Nathan has a shot from 30yrds out which the keeper saves, then in the 21st min Charlie T’s shot just whizzes past the post. The Lions pressure pays off in the 26th min when Nathan passes into the penalty area, the ball gets cleared back out to Charlie T who slots it into the back of the net just out of reach of the keeper! 3-0 Full of confidence, the Lions keep the pressure on the blues, who are unable to get near the goal with Scott L and Callum clearing the ball up field. 32nd min Nathan then finds himself back in the penalty area and slots the ball past the keeper! 4-0 Well done Nathan on the hat trick!
The second half started and in the 2nd min Newton Longville win a free kick, which they manage to get past Sonny 4-1. Then in the 5th min they break again, but Sonny is able to scoop the ball up whilst being shielded by Dylan and Charlie B. 7th min and the Lions win a free kick, Charlie HP takes and it reaches Charlie T, then out to Nathan who wins another free kick 15 yrds out which gets cleared. Shayne then comes on to replace Nathan. The play starts to become a little scrappy again and the blues find themselves having a few shooting opportunities, but they either go wide or Sonny is able to save. Charlie T then comes off for Scott H. 12th min and the blues win a corner, Sonny punches it away, Edgar continues the clearance and it goes back out for another corner. Sonny is then able to gather the next effort. 16th min Scott H battles to win the ball and passes it out to Archie down the right who puts his shot just wide. The blues then make another break which Callum is able to clear. The Lions continue to pressure, with Shayne winning the ball and getting it through to Scott H who is given offside. The boys win a succession of throw-ins and then a corner with Charlie HP, Archie and Scott H all pressuring in the box. Jamie then comes on for Charlie B. 24th min the blues win a free kick 10yrds out and put their effort over the bar. The parents and spectators were then treated to what they had been waiting for, a culmination of all the hard work and training-we got to see the Lions play some of the best football we have witnessed (according to Glen ‘just like watching Arsenal’-I’m not so sure myself!)………. 25th min Scott L clears the ball up to Archie, then to Scott H and back into Archie who smashes it into the back of the net!!! 5-1 Sonny then made way for Mason. 27th min Shayne slipped a lovely ball through to Scott H who was given offside. The free kick was then taken which Joe was able to win. He passed it out to Scott L then to Archie, back to Scott L, and then back to Archie and back to Scott L again! He put the ball into the box; Scott H passes it Shayne whose shot went just wide! Fantastic play boys! 30th min Archie then starts the move by passing out to Scott L, to Joe, back to Scott L and then he puts the ball into Shayne 6-1!!!! The blues then break in the 31st min but Mason saves the shot. 33rd min Joe chips the ball into Shayne who chips the keeper but the shot goes just wide. 34th The blues get another shot at goal but Mason is able to save being shielded by Dylan. 35th min Jamie scoops the ball out to Shayne, then to Charlie HP, back to Shayne, onto Joe and finally out to Scott L when the ref blows the whistle!
Final Score 6-1 and what a fantastic performance to watch and the boys to be part of, Well Done!!
A mention for Mason, who played his last game for the Lions before moving on to play for MK City Tigers, we wish him all the best and good luck!!!
