All,
The u13`s played their last home league game of the season, and it was not pretty !!, a luck-luster display, giving away 4 soft goals and allowing Tattenhoe to play their game, a shame really as we have quality throughout the team, and we have a good passing game, that really just did not get going today.
Boys we have to look at our-selves today and put it right it our next game, away to Moretonville.
I will look forward to see`ing you all at training !!!.
Darren.

Match report - Lions 1 – 4 Tattenhoe Magic's
Oscillations, Undulations, Sine waves, Roll, Yaw, Sway, all words that describe the Dips and peaks of the U13 lions season and unfortunately today we witnessed one of those dips.
In terms of possession then the teams were pretty equal, in terms of pressure, again pretty much equal but the difference lie in that small, hard to describe part of the game that provides the winning edge – I think the experts call it “Guile”. Anyhoo whatever it is, it meant that the Magic's came away with the spoils and no one could really argue that they shouldn't have.
So, a very good game started quite promisingly as in the second minute Scott “Bites yer Legs” Leech at right back slotted an incisive ball up the pitch for the ever running Archie “Angela” Rippen to home in on, move forward and shoot but unfortunately his good effort went just wide.
Following this the Magic's came back at us virtually straight away and a headed goal by the taller of there two lightening quick forwards put them one up.
4 mins, Lions 0 - 1 Magic's
OK – no drama's, we came back from the same deficit last week against the Tigers so it was time to do the same, and the boys really pushed hard with “Charlie Farley” Holman-Patey, Joe “President” Kennedy, “Superfast” Shayne Irving, and Angela working hard in midfield to create something, more than ably supported by the defence of the aforementioned "Bites yer legs", Alex “TNT” Tucker, “The Poet” Dylan Cunningham "Cool hand" Callum Quinn-Hudson and the mighty Jamie “Tosh” Latarche.
The team were playing well and as the half progressed chances appeared with corners, half chances and occasional shots at goal from loan wolf forward, Charlie “Chazzer” Tofield all of which culminated in a free kick from the President on 27 minutes but unfortunately this went just wide.
A few changes were made over the half as Edgar “Diarby” Adekoyah, Charlie “Peanuts” Brown and Nathan “Nine Lives” Clarke entered the fray in place of “Angela”, “Tosh” and “Charley Farley” who had all put in a goodly shift and earned a break.
Half time, Lions 0 - 1 Magic's
Time to relax and take a breath and before I know it Leaky boots Elaine popped up and said she enjoyed the duck joke from last weeks report so in the same vein I asked her “how do you make a duck into a soul singer – Put it in the microwave till it's Bill Withers”. (another one for the youngsters there) In retrospect it was a strange half really, I think its fair to say the lions ended up on top possession wise but were unable to get it in the net, but never mind – it was going to happen if they played like they did in the first half.
So what did we need to do in the second half ? Well we needed to come out, get a goal quickly to put things back on an even keel, Simples!! unfortunately we come out and conceded two more within 3 mins and really that was just about that for the game.
3 mins, Lions 0 – 3 Magics
I should mention that none of these goals could have been prevented by our truly outstanding keeper Sonny “Braveheart” Clayton whose performance was again top notch but the fact of the matter was that we were in danger of getting a stuffing.
Once again the lions spirit kicked in and things settled down with “The Poet” going just over the bar, and it wasn't long before “Chazzer's” hard work up front was drew a foul and a penalty came the lions way. Up stepped “President” Kennedy to put the ball in the onion sack to recclaim a level of respectability in the scoreline. 7th Minute, Lions 1 - 3 Magic's.
Time to change things around and go for it – Off came the excellent "Bites yer legs" from defence and on came Scotty “The Hottie” Howkins to join “Chazzer”up front while “Angela” re entered proceedings replacing “Superfast” who'd run himself into the ground.
This change brought a No of chances. “Chazzer” had a couple of good efforts thwarted by the keeper or slip just wide to nearly score, while “Diarby”, the “President” and “Angela” all had a pop as well but unfortunately, no cigar.
Before the end “Charley Farley” returned for “TNT” and the boys still applied pressure until the 28th minute when the magic's broke through and beat “Braveheart” to go 4-1 up.
That really was that apart from another super save from Braveheart and then it was all over.
Final Score, Lions 1 - 4 Magic's.
Summary:
The Magic's have done us twice this year in the league, the only team to do so yet on both occasions we had enough play to certainly get a point or win, but hay ho, thats footy so lets not get the cob on!! The boys have done brilliant this season and while it would have been nice to win our last home game this season we can always go forward to next week at Mortonville and end on a high there instead.
Finally, the Managers man of the match – Charlie “Chazzer” Tofield for his endless running, hard work and tireless effort's up front. Well done Charlie and and also big thanks to Brian Quinn for running the line again and for frightening the living bejesus out of Nine lives before the game started!!.
Cheers
