All,
The u13`s wrapped up this seasons league campaign with a 3-nil win against Moretonville, this win should seal a mid-table finish in the league, which to be fair is a great achievement, in this very strong league, so very well done to all the players.
Darren.

Match report – Moretonville 0 – 3 Newport lions U13.
What a great day to be out watching footy – The last league game of this seasons campaign and one that has provided such great memories, yep seeing Kelly latarche on top form at the Rod Stewart night will never be forgotten.
The sun was high, the company was excellent as we had the usual mahoosive turn out of MADS's (mums and dads if your reading this for the first time) and I had money in my pocket from backing a horse called “V-Neck” in the Grand National last week – I knew he'd win as he's a great jumper.
So whilst the Omens were good, Moretonville were a team who were just coming off the back of a superb win against league high flyers, MK City tigers, so the question was how would it go bearing in mind I could still smell that performance from last week!
Read on, my young padawans if you want to find out.
Right, onto the game now and good pressure from the off by the lions with Archie “Angela” Rippen, complete with new “John Inman” styled purple boots found himself shouting “I'm Free” on the wing to receive a ball, carry it forward and have his shot saved by the keeper. (one for the kids there!). A few minutes later this pressure paid off as “Superfast” Shayne Irving pounced on the ball during a goalmouth Mellee to somehow score and the Lions found themselves 1 up. Good work “Superfast”.
7 Mins, Moretonville 0 – 1 Lions
The swing in play now went Moretonvilles way (i'm a poet and I don't know it) as they seemed to get a hold on the midfield and started to make things happen – now the defence of Charlie “Peanuts” Brown, Alex “TNT” Tucker, Scott “Bites yer Legs” leech and “The Poet” Dylan really had to earn their biscuits and work hard as attack on attack came their way. Luckily for all our sakes we had the irrepressible Sonny “Braveheart” Clayton in goal looking like a flying banana in his yellow jersey - the good news is that he will look like a flying carrot next year in the new kit – anyhoo Sonny made so many great saves that I really lost count, Brilliant stuff sonny!!
Coming deep to help out the battling midfield of Edgar “Diarby”Adekoyah, “Charley Farley” Holman-Patey, “Nine Lives” Nathan Clarke and the aforementioned “Angela” and “Superfast” was lone wolf front man Charlie “Chazzer” Tofield whose herculean efforts in hunting the ball down were noted by all watching.
Moving on then towards half time and somewhat against the run of play it was “Chazzers” chasing that resulted in a corner to the lions. That was cleared but only to the boy “Farley” who popped it straight back in the 6 yard area to to commence another scramble with the same result – Yep, “Superfast” popped it into the onion sack again and we were 2 up – Loverely stuff.
Half time Moretonville 0 – 2 Lions
Half time - Now onto my duties as the admin man – some of you may not know that every week I fill in a “Fair Play” results sheet that goes to the league and in doing that I have to get the names of the lino's and ref, So off I wandered down to the Moretonville massif and faced with a bevy of Buckingham beauties I asked if anyone could tell me the name of their lino? A loverly lady piped up and said “it's Colin Anderson and he's having a crap game” - Thats a bit harsh said I, and the lady replied – “its OK he's my husband, not only that but its our wedding anniversary today”. My immediate retort was “well I hope he performs better for you tonight then” which made me titter somewhat and the bucks babes crack up so here's hoping Colin was on form later that night.
Part Deux now and Darren Manager had given the boys a gentle talking too and we came out a bit better with a bit more Vim Fuego, sorry, just Vim, and went about the task of firming up the result – It actually became an end to ender for a while with Angela having a shot saved and “Nine Lives” shot going just over the bar whilst all the time Sonny was performing heroics in the gaol to keep us in front.
12th Minute “Angela” and “peanuts”went off for a break to be replaced by Scottie “The Hottie” Howkins and Jamie “Tosh” Latarche respectfully – Callum “Cool Hand” Quinn Hudson was already on so I must have missed that – apologies folks. The game continued and we were starting to create a bit more up front, but it was the superb “Tosh” in defence clearing off the line that made the most telling contribution before Moretonville were awarded a penalty on 26 minutes.
Up stepped their superb, tall No 8 to blast it over the net – you could tell It just wasn't going to be Moretonvilles day.
To compound this just a few minutes later “Nine Lives” received the ball from “Superfast” and with a gynaecologists accuracy, let loose a cracking shot from range to just slip the ball inside the post to put us 3-0 up and seal the result.
Nine Lives had a shot go just wide and Chazzer had a couple of pops too but the game came to an end with the score at 3-0 to the lions – a lovely way to end the season.
Summary: The result is great but that did not reflect the game at all – it really was one of those days where we could do little wrong and Moretonville had nothing go right for them - a sort of smash and grab really but hay ho – we've had days like that too and in football the result is quite often far from fair.
Managers man of the match went to the whole squad for giving Darren Manager and Owen trainer a great seasons work and a truly excellent 1st season in Div 1 so well done to all. taking points off every team bar one (the Magics)
With that then we arrive at the end of another season and I would like to take this opportunity to personally thank all of the MADS for your company and the laughs we've all enjoyed over the year, the kids for all their efforts and at times playing some absolutely sublime football, and of course Darren manager and Owen trainer for all their hard work over the year. Also thanks to Sina “the man with the cool Hat” Adekoyah, Brian “My son Fin will sleep in the shed if he supports Man U” Quinn, Sean “Gary's best mate” Tofield, and Jeremiah “Tom tom gone” Cunningham who between them managed to run the line so well over the season, even if Sina cant tell his right from his left (according to the ref). (hope I got that right- Cant remember if Bill “I cant touch my shoulders” Rippen did it as well) Also thanks to Tova for looking after the first aid and a massive thanks to “Jo Note taker” Leech from whose reams of pitch side scribbled notes I derive this dross most weeks but who also stepped in to write a few of the reports as well when I was bogged down with work.
So, Well done to all and remember – if your at the club house bar before me then mines a Guinness.
The 2010 – 11 U13 Squad comprised :-
Manager – Darren “Haircut 100” Clarke, Assistant – Owen “Baldilocks and the 3 hairs” Brown. Goalies – The “Stone Mason” Tofts and Sonny “Brave heart” Clayton. Defence – Scott “Bites yer legs” Leech, Charlie “Peanuts” Brown, Callum “Cool Hand” Quinn Hudson, “The Poet”- Dylan Cunningham, Jamie “Tosh” Latarche and Alex “TNT” Tucker. Midfield – Nathan “Nine Lives” Clarke, “Superfast” Shayne Irving, Archie “Angela” Rippin, Joe “President” Kennedy, Edgar “Diarby” Adekoya, “Charlie Farley” Holman-Patey, Frontmen – Charlie “Chazzer” Tofield, Scotty “The Hottie” Howkins.
Ta ta. And roll on next season.
