UCL Premier Division
Newport Pagnell Town 1 Long Buckby 2
Saturday, 10 September 2011
The Swans doubled Buckby last term but a Russ Dunkley doubled ensured there would be no repeat performance.
The Swans pressed early to try and find the early break through but the Bucks defended well, Vinnie Shrieves having the early chance through a break away but the keeper saving well.
It was Long Buckby that took the lead on the 22nd minute through Russ Dunkley who put the Bucks in front at the break and his sixth goal of the season.
Buckby could have doubled the advantage before the interval when a one on one chance was scuffed wide by the Buckby forward.
The Swans had a hand ball claim turned down after the Long Buckby defender handled the ball. It was unclear whether this was ball to hand or hand to ball in reality.
The Swans had two great chances denied by the keeper who on both occasions finer tipped the ball out for a corner.
Then five minutes into the second half the same player doubled Buckby’s advantage from another header in a similar position.
Vinny Shrieves reduced the arrears after 54 minutes when he received a well place pass from Daren dykes but that was as good as it got for the Swans.
The last 20 minutes saw Newport Pagnell step up a gear after the decifit was reduced. Chances were created and well defended by the Buckby goal keeper and defence. This included a tip over the bar from a shot from outside the area from Daren dykes. Then Dom Lawless and Vinnie Shrieves where also denied.
The Swans had another claim for a hand ball turned down when it appeared that the Buckby defender delibratly blocked a shot on the line with his hands to prevent the equalizing goal! This one appeared to be more clear cut as the hands went up to stop the ball from a close range shot and to prevent a goal!!!
Buckby almost nicked another goal from a break away in the dying seconds but the effort was wide of the goal.
