Newport edged their way past lower grade Corinths to reach the last 16 of the Knockout Cup.
The Vinnie Shrieves had a great chance but skimmed the cross bar with his effort.
Just after the Newport miss a Rothwell chance was sent skywards to the moon.
Vinny Shrieves scrambled the ball into the net at close range to put the Swans into a twentieth minute lead when he met a cross/shot.
Tony Ielapi levelled twelve minutes past the half hour mark when he found space to blast the ball into the top right hand corner.
Then Vinnie Shrieves had a one on one with the keeper , but the keeper reacting quick.
Dom saw red after the linesman spotted a punch from Dom on an off the ball incident. But later Rich Armstrong had his legs delibratly kicked after he tackled a player yet no action was taken against the Rothwell player.
Josh had to be in fine form when he made a good save at the near post from the Corithians numer 9.
After various chances were missed it was left to Substitute Daren dykes to score Newport's clincher after 68 minutes. dykes rounding the keeper to slot the ball home from the side of the area.
The Swans now meet either Sleaford or Cogenhoe at Willen Road. Date TBA.
