UCL Premier Division
Newport Pagnell Town 6 Daventry United 1
Saturday, 01 October 2011
The Swans recovered from conceding the opening goal of the afternoon to pick up a stylish fourth UCL win in a row scoring 11 goals in the past two games.
Duncan Harris netted for the Motormen after sixteen minutes when he found space, his soft shot finding its way past everyone.
Dom Lawless levelled for Newport two minutes before the half hour mark from a neatly placed shot.
Josh was called into action when he had to make a good save from a near shot.
Two goals late in the half put the Swans in control, Sean McBride put the home side in front after 42 minutes when he nipped the ball off Matt Broomes, Shan then showing his Bale celebration to the three people in the stand. Then Richard Armstrong’s excellent form continued when he extended the advantage two minutes later.
There was time for Matt Broomes to find the net but he was adjudged to be offside.
There was more pain for Daventry after half time with Armstrong scoring his second goal after 57 minutes from a chipped shot leaving a Daventry Utd keeper helpless and unable to reach the ball.
Lawless following suit a minute before the hour to grab his second of the game and his 9th of the season, Lawless pace beating the Daventry Defence and his low hard shot then beating the keeper.
It could have been worse for Daventry if it wasn’t for a near post miss by Dom Lawless then not long afterwards the Daventry keeper scrambled the ball around the post from the same player.
The rout was completed by Vinny Shrieves two minutes from the end when he leapt to meet a cross, his well place header finding the top right hand corner of the goal.
Daventry Utd had a chance in the final minute to reduce the arrears when the number 9 broke down the left but Josh made a superb save.
