All,
The u14 Lions were in league action today against Bedford Panthers, as you can see from the above score line the Lions enjoyed a good win, good luck to Chris and his team, next up Emberton.

Match report, Newport lions U14. 0 – 6 Bedford Panthers
Its so unfair – as a Chelsea fan its so rare to have the chance to rip into Man U and when it arrives we go and blow it – and what makes it worse is that President Kennedy's dad is a season ticket holder at QPR – I really cant win can I!!
Still the same can't be said for the Lions who seam to be steamrollering along like Emlyn “Crazy Horse” Hughes in full flight - getting great results but not very stylishly!!
Anyhoo For this league game the assembled squad gathered minus Joe “President Kennedy” (hols) and Simone “Ballotelli” Datsamor (sick) and set about a team that we have played once before and who are very well organised, quick and play proper football on the ground.
Neither team settled or got into a stride – in fact it was quite a frenetic and bunchy affair as a packed midfield battled away to gain something for their forwards – and it was the lions who were first to do this as Charlie “Chazzer” Tofield put one away expertly to put us 1-0 up. He then quite hilariously lost a battle to remove his under shirt and had to come over to the touchline to get it untangled and properly detached!
More chances fell our way with shots from “Chazzer” and Santino “San the Man” Ciliberti going close and then a long range shot from Nathaniel “Nat King Cole” Beecher was blasted into the crossbar – the Newport lads were getting on top now and the confidence was beginning to flow.
This confidence was tested however when “The Poet” Dylan Cunningham prevented an almost certain goal as he chased back and took the ball off the feet of the panthers striker as he was about to pull the trigger. Great work Dylan.
The lads were starting to perform in glimpses with Nathan Nine Lives Clarke, Archie “Angela” Rippen and Edgar “Diarby” Adekoyah all linking up with crisp passing before “San the man” took it upon himself to blast the ball into the onion sack from 20 yards after ghosting past two opposition players as if they were not there – What a cracker - a wonderful goal to put the lions 2-0 up.
Cool hand Callum Quinn Hudson was stoic in defence along with Alex TNT Tucker and of course these guys sat in front of the marvellous Sonny “Braveheart” Clayton who picked up anything that got past them.
Another goal was coming and it came from a brave header from “Superfast” Shayne Irving as he got a whack in the moosh for his efforts whilst putting it past the keeper with his bonce. Great goal Shayne!! Lions 3 This was soon followed by another goal for “Superfast” as he ran onto an excellent through ball from Scottie “The Hottie” Howkins and finished sublimely – Lions 4-0 up.
Half time now and sir Billiam of Rippenville summed the half up quite eloquently – “its scrappy but were winning” he retorted and I think we all agreed with him, he then went onto talk about how much he was looking forward to a beer, and the exuberant joy that is Real ale – I was drooling as currently I am off the sauce – me things sir Billiam knew this the rotten so and so!!
Half time over just as West ham Terri and Tottenham Dave arrive to see Scot “Bites yer legs” leech take to the pitch – within minutes he had exposed the right flank and soon “Angela” roared down there put a cross over that was met by “The Hottie's” Head – but hold on - whose that climbing on “The Hotties” shoulders? – yep its “The Poet” getting his head on it after "The Hottie" to claim the goal – 5-0. They all count boys!
Essentially then the game was over now but amongst numerous changes to the team that saw Charlie “Peanuts” Brown and “Arsene” Adegbenga Meranda come on to give it some it came down to “Angela” to finish one last time to make the score 6-0 and that was that.
Final Score Lions 6 – 0 Panthers
Summary:
A great result but a bit scrappy but you cant complain with a scoreline like that. Good luck to the panthers for the rest of the season, they played some good football and to be honest the final score flattered us – well done to all!!
Well done to Darren manager and Coach Owen on a good result all round and lets hope we can keep the run going against Emberton this coming weekend!!
Cheers.
