Newport Pagnell Town 6 Thrapston Town 0
Tuesday, 25 October 2011
The Swans stormed to their biggest win of the season as they handed the top flight new boys a drubbing by going one goal better then they did at Thrapston earlier in the season.
Goals from Dominic Lawless eleven minutes and Daren dykes three minutes later saw Newport grab early control. Lawless taking the ball into the box and placing it in the left hand side then dykes quick to follow a rebound up to double the Swans advantage.
Thrapston had goalkeeper Chris Jones red carded after twenty minutes when Vinny Shrieves found himself in a one on one situation after he broke away from the Thrapston defence. Vinny lifted the ball over the keeper, then the keeper catching Vinny sending him flying.
The strange thing is the sending off seemed to change things and Newport found it difficult to find the goal. And around 55 minutes past before we saw another goal but In that time the Swans did find the cross bar on one occasion.
Dean Buss scored after 71 minutes from a header and Vinny Shrieves joined the spree with ten minutes remaining to begin the goal scoring spree!
Inbetween the goal spree Thrapston had their best chance of the game but somehow the forward missed a close range shot in the six yard box!
Lawless scored his second goal after 87 minutes with Shrieves following suit in the last minute when he shot on the turn.
Thrapston didn’t really threaten that much throughout the game but did force a couple of good saves out of Josh through half chances.
Newport: Josh McAdoo, Massimo Lagioia (Lewis Wilson), Rob Tapp, John Thorpe, Dean Buss, Liam Smyth, Daren dykes (Matt Broomes), Sean McBride, Vinny Shrieves, Dominic Lawless, Scott Mulkern.
Thrapston: Chris Jones, Andy Dobbs, Adam Randall, Dan Grainger, Lee Gotch, Matt Harris, Stuart Goosey (Dan Waters), Calum Ridgway, Deven Ellwood (Conor Durkin), Charlie Fowler (Mike Houghton), Dave Townsend.
