In the Voice of Len SEVEN was the amount of goals the Swans were to score! Basement boys Desborough's season goes from bad to worse - this defeat was their heaviest of the season so far.
JohnThorpe gave Newport an eleventh minute lead when he pounced on a cross to put the swans in the lead.
Vinnie Shrieves almost added the second when he swivelled to shoot but his shot just went over the cross bar.
Desborough had a spell of corners, 4 in a row which the Swans defended well and made sure they were kept out…..for a while anyway!
Ar Tarns pressure almost paid off when Newport cleared in front of the goal but the follow up shot from the number 10 just went over the cross bar.
The Swans were not going to lie down and so they pressured Desborough. This paid off when nine minutes before the interval a Martyn Donativo own goal gave the Swans their second. The under pressure defender turned the ball into his own net.
Ryan Gormley cut the deficit six minutes into the second half but that was as good as things got for Ar Tarn as the Swans extended there wings and flew!
Goals from Scott Mulkern after 64 minutes and Dominic Lawless after 68 saw Newport well in control. Scottie following up a re-bound to give
Newport a comfortable lead. Then a great one on one finsh by Lawless extended newports lead.
Three late goals completed the rout as Desborough collapsed. Matt Broomes scored two after 85 and 87 minutes both from similar positions as he met corners on both occasions on the edge of the six yard box to complete his Brace. And then Lawless rounded off the scoring and also getting his brace a minute into stoppage time.
