Newport Pagnell 2 - 0 Shepshed Dynamo - UCL Prem
23rd Feb 2013.
After shaky start The Swans took the reins and took controlled of the first half in a flury of snow grains. Not even shouts from the Shepshed fans to the referee 'call the game off its snowing' could help them.
Dynamo came close to opening the scoring within the first minute from an attack but the resulting shot just went over the cross bar.
The Swans then took the reins of the game and pushed Dynamo back for long peroids. Watson missing a great chance in front of a partial open goal to put Newport 1-0 up when he recieved the ball from a cross from the right. He scuffed shot going wide of the goal!
A couple more chances were missed which went over the cross bar but it was John Thorpe that gave the Swans the lead when he rose taller than everyone from a cross from a corner. Thorpey despatching the header into the goal to put the Swans 1-0 up with 24 minute played.
Ash Farmer almost doubled Newports advantage when he stormed into the area from the right side but his hard shpt was neatly saved by the Dynamo keeper.
Then on the 34th minute its was Steve Brookes that doubled the Swans lead after some good running from him saw him rewarded with a goal. His run into the Shepshed penalty area was picked up by Armstrong who passed him the ball, Brookes neatly placing the ball home. He even silenced the Shepshed fan with the big drum!
The second half saw a different Shepshed Dynamo as it was their turn to pen Newport back in their own half awaking the loan drummer. In fact for the first 10 minute Newport found it difficult to get out of their own area! In this time Dynamo missed 3 or 4 great chances with two shots flying over the cross bar and another chance scuffed wide as the forward tried to shoot while turning on the spot.
Newport then got out of their own half to create a couple of good chances through the ever present Ash Farmer whos constant running down the right side saw him produce a good cross. The resulting shot just going wide of the mark.
Then it was Shepsheds turn to test out new keeper. The Dynamo forward pacing down the right side, his hard shot was well saved by the Swans Keeper as he palmed it out for a corner.
I have to say this was a well hard earn't 3 points for the Swans after two disapointing games for the lads where they worked hard as well and never got much back from them. Well done Newport!
