Newport Pagnell 4 - 0 S & L Corby - UCL Prem.
5/3/13
The Swans bounce back with a stunning second half performance, ending S & L Corbys unbeaten run.
Several chances were missed in the first half to give the Swans the lead at the interval which meant that both team went in at half time 0-0, which included some good saves from the S & L Keeper.
S & L number 10 had a good chance at close range but Josh saving and keeping S & L blank.
Danny Watson and Ash Framer missed a double chance to put the Swans in the lead forcing the S & L Keeper to make a great double save. Then shortly afterwards Richard Armstrong picked a re-bound up on the edge of the area, his long range effort hitting the cross bar! The keeper was called into action again when he had to make a low save from Jarod Cuniff from the left side.
In was in the second half the Swans found their goal scoring touch when Keith Williams broke the deadlock after 49 minutes. His looping cross, which was aimed for Big Rich at the far post, ended up hitting the post and going into the goal. I think the Swans deserve some luck!
Jared Cunniff doubled the home lead two minutes before the hour mark when he pounced on a re-bound after the keeper made a close range save.
Ash farmer produced another good save out of the Corby keeper with a wicked volley. The keeper palming the ball over the cross bar!
A Matt Broomes brace after 75 and 78 minutes completed the scoring, the first when he found himself unmarked on the edge of the six yard box, making no mistake he powered the ball home to put the Swans 3-0 up. The second he neatly slotted the ball under the keeper to complete the second half route. Broomes could have had a hat trick when he found himself one on one with the keeper but he scuffed the ball making it an easy save for the keeper.
Despite some last minute pressure form the away side Newport held strong defensively and dealt with the Danger, although S & L were guilty of a bad miss as the forward sliced the ball wide on the edge of the six yard box.
Newport: Josh McAdoo, Massimo Lagioia (Scott Mulkern), Keith Williams, Rob Tapp, Dave Baker, Jared Cunniff (Kyle Welch), Ash Farmer, Richard Armstrong (Dean Buss), Matt Broomes, Danny Watson, Steve Brooks.
