Newport Pagnell 3 Boston Town 2
09/03/13
Boston's fight back went unrewarded as Newport held on to the points at Willen Road after 2 late goals for Boston gave them some hope.
The Swans created some great chances in the first half but most were off target but their constant pressure paid off when Dave Baker's 29th minute opener had the Swans in front. Dave Baker rose to meet a corner within the six yard box.
Bostons best chance came when Josh was caught out, the forward rounding the keeper to shoot but his shot was well saved via Keith Williams header off the line. A cracking stop on the line by our left back!!!! Well done Beefy!!!!
Danny Watson and Matt Broomes both had great chances to score but both shots were comfortably saves by the keeper.
like in the previous game the second half saw the Swans rally which saw Goals from Matt Broomes after 62 minutes and Danny Watson three minutes later left Newport well in control. Broomes neatly finishing from close range and Watson from a tight angle. Watson almost added another a minute later but his header hitting the side netting.
Boston made a couple of changes which seemed to improve them somewhat. This showed as they managed to get back into the game and pushed the Swans back and their pressure paid off when Callum Stocks put Boston on the score sheet with twenty minutes remaining.
A second visiting goal from Alec Robinson after 83 minutes made it a nervous finish for Newport as this improved their confidence and came close to scoring a 3rd goal but the shot went just wide.
The Swans managed to get the ball back and ran the clock down by keeping possession up in the corners of the Boston end.
Another well deserved victory for The Swans!!!!
