Lions back to winning ways this week, with a well fought match with Brookfield in a biting wind, the Lions needed to bounce back after an indifferent game the week before. Lions nosed ahead in the first half with a great shot from Joe Brooks down the left side of midfield that beat both defenders and the keeper. We conceded just before halftime with Brookfield applying their own pressure. After the break we needed to lift our game and pick up the pace, which we did, and with some good work down the right and a shot on target saw Luke Adams put the Lions back in front, we needed build on this and really take control of the game, and with Danny Booth putting away the 3rd with a nice shot we were surely home and dry. But with plenty of fight still in Brookfield to their credit, they continued to give us problems, and again on one of their charges into our danger area they shot and grabbed a second, just to add to the pressure for the last 5 minutes. However the Lions held firm and the game finished with Lions grabbing the 3 points, not least due to the outstanding efforts of Joe Brooks, well done today Joe. Well done to Brookfield who played some nice football with a great spirit, the Brookfield Keeper had an excellent game, and we look forward to playing again later in the year back at Willen Rd. Next week Dive 1 league action away to our near neighbors Emberton.
