UCL Premier Division
Cogenhoe United 0 - 1 Newport Pagnell Town
Saturday, 22 March 2008
The Swans nabbed all three points in the cold blizzard-like conditions. This was always going to be a difficult game due to the weather conditions. Whether you had the wind behind you or against you, i don't think either team had the advantage due to over hit balls or clearances that just blew back to where they were kicked from.
Cogenhoe started better of the two coming close when Rob Goldring vollied the ball against the post. Then just after Cogenhoe came close again just firing wide of the near post. Newport had a couple of chances, Vinny firing wide and just before the interval Drew Mitten was stopped with a well timed tackle.
HT 0-0
Second half both teams came out playing some better football. The Cooks attacked straight away pulling a good save out of the Newport keeper. Then straight after, Jordan Spruce's long range effort tested the Cogenhoe Keeper, who made an excellent low save. The goal came on the 68th Minute when Jordan Spruce weaved past three cooks defenders before firing past Darren Watts to put the Swans one up. Cogenhoe came close at the end, Foster vollying over the Newport cross bar.
The full time whistle came to the relief of us frozen snow blown fans, players and officials. ;D
Full Time 0-1
Cogenhoe: Darren Watts, Dan Thomason, Aaron Campion (Dan Holman), Nick Ashby, Adam Knight, Lee Gotch, Rob Goldring (Tom McGowan), Neil Champelovier, Zac Nedimovic (Malcolm Ndekwe), Rob Foster, Jack Ashton.
Newport Pagnell: James Howarth, Scott Mulkern, Rob Lock, Mark bone, James Fletcher, Martin Kelly (Nick Papadopoulos), Rob Tapp, Jordan Spruce, Vinny Shrieves, Drew Mitten (Karl Kiernan), Rob Macdonald.
