Newport Pagnell Town 3 - 2 Boston Town
Saturday, 05 April 2008
Games against Boston have always been a good one and blimey yet again it was! The game started with some end to end great attacking football from both sides. It was on the sixteeth minute Scot Mulkern put the Swans one up. Scottie picked up a pass shooting at the keeper for him to save but he then pounced on the rebound to put the ball into the back of the net. Boston came close to scoring but a good save by Bruce kept Newport one up. Newport almost doubled their lead when Drew Mitten was through on goal, the combination of the Keeper saving and a good tackle by the Boston defender preventing him. Boston Town did equalise through their main man Gary Bull when he shot at Bruce for him to save with his chest but the same man picked the rebound up to shoot, Bruce did scoop it out of the goal but it was deemed to cross the line by the linesman. The referee did miss a blatant hand ball (a punch on the ball), he seemed to be the only one not to notice. ;D
Both sides came close to scoring again but both missed some opportunities to grab the lead.
Half time 1-1
Both sides came out attacking like in the first half. Newport Pagnell took the lead again when a great cross from Drew met Vinnys head to give the Swans the lead. The lead didn't last long when Paul Goodhand was put down the right side to shoot to Bruce's far left to equalise. Boston did score again but this time it was ruled off-side. Richard Armstrong was taken off and replaced with Elliot O'Rielly by the manager not long after recieving an unlucky yellow card. This was to protect him from any risk of further cards and to make sure he doesn't get a suspension from the Berks & Bucks Trophy final. The winning goal came two minute from the end when an excellent pass by the newly introduced sub Sammuel Bisque was met by Elliot O'Rielly to pick up to beat the defender for him to square to Martin Kelly to grab the winner! Best move of the match by both substitutes!
Full Time 3-2
